MED 570 Student‐Focused Coaching to Support Novice Educators

Fall, Spring

Student‐Focused Coaching to Support Novice Educators will provide students the opportunity to learn and apply techniques and approaches to foster new and aspiring educators’ professional growth. Topics to be addressed include proliferating highly effective instructional practices among novice teachers, building educators’ instructional efficacy, and strategies for managing commonly experienced yet challenging scenarios in schools. Candidates will apply their knowledge by observing and reflecting on other teachers’ instruction, completing needs assessments and observations, collaborating to identify areas of need for growth, creating and supporting the development of an action plan, and using the Pennsylvania Culturally Relevant and Sustaining Education competencies to increase teacher effectiveness and student learning. Certified  Pennsylvania Educators who complete this course will also be eligible to earn up to 90 clock hours of ACT 48 credit. 3 credit hours
