CHM 146 Advanced Chemistry IISpring Semester
This course is an advanced version of General Chemistry II suitable for Chemistry and Forensic Chemistry majors, and other science majors with a strong desire to study chemistry. The topics to be studied include an examination of the properties of the different phases of matter, solutions and their properties, rates of reactions and the variables that control them, equilibrium in chemical reactions, acid-base chemistry, an introduction to thermodynamics, and electrochemistry. When possible, connections to upper-level Chemistry courses will be made in order to prepare students for future courses in the Chemistry program. 3 class periods. 2 three-hour laboratory period (CHM147). Prerequisite: CHM 134 with a grade of 2.5 or higher.
