Criminalistics Minor

A minor in Criminalistics allows students to explore a variety of areas of forensic science. Proper investigation, evidence collection, and scientific analysis are stressed. Laboratory courses provide students with a hands-on learning experience.

Requirements (16 or 17 credits):

CJA 101 Introduction to Criminal Justice 3 credit hours
CJA 236/237 Criminalistics 4 credit hours crosslisted as
FCM 210/211 Criminalistics 4 credit hours
CJA 305 Criminal Investigation 3 credit hours ***
CJA 362 Crime Scene Processing 3 credit hours crosslisted as ***
FCM 362/363 Crime Scene Processing 3 credit hours ***

Choose 3 - 4 credits from the following courses:

CJA 386 Death Investigation 3 credit hours ***
FCM 394/395 Forensic Biology 4 credit hours *

*There are three prerequisites for this course: BIO 150/151 , CHM 134/135 , CJA 236/237 /FCM 210/211

***Course cannot be used for both Criminalistics minor and Criminal Justice elective.
