HIS 386 Historical Geography of North America
This course offers a broad introduction to the historical geography of the United States through analysis of distinctive elements of regional landscapes. Archival and contemporary photographs, cartographic, representations, and many secondary sources are utilized to develop and extend themes presented in the course textbook. Upon completion of this course, students will have a deeper understanding of the issues involved in the analysis of place at a variety of spatial scales. They will also have a better sense of the historical layering of landscapes they encounter on a daily basis. This course is cross-listed as G 336 .
