MLE 310 Diagnostic Reading & InstructionFall-Spring Semesters
This course is designed to help future middle level educators identify reading and writing strengths and needs and how to incorporate reading strategies into classroom instruction to help facilitate student growth. Course topics include: differentiated reading instruction, three-tiered reading interventions, word recognition and spelling assessment and instruction, fluency assessment and instruction comprehension assessment and instruction, and reading attitude and motivation assessment and instruction. Participants must take an active role in this learning process. Prerequisite: Pre-Professional Educator Status (PPES). The following courses may not be scheduled until PPES has been attained.
