Through close student/faculty engagement and hands-on experience with cutting edge instrumentation, a student majoring in Chemistry will be prepared for employment and/or graduate studies in a variety of scientific fields. The program has strong support from local industry partners and is home to a diverse set of instrumentation and specialized equipment. All students in the major are exposed to these resources and are able to tailor their studies to incorporate them through diverse and flexible coursework and research experiences. This combination prepares graduates to emerge ready to enter the workforce or enroll in graduate or professional schools. Students who use their elective options to pursue a course in Biochemistry can be awarded a degree that is certified by the American Chemical Society, a designation that strengthens graduates’ prospects.
