French Studies Minor


The French Studies minor emphasizes the acquisition of skills in all aspects of the language - listening comprehension, reading, speaking, writing and cultural understanding.  Knowledge of French gives students a competitive edge when entering careers that seek applicants who are able to communicate in one of the six official languages of the United Nations.  Students learn about cultural diversity and become more aware of their own world view and that of other people around the world.

Requirements:


  • Fifteen course credits beyond the elementary level, taught in French, respectively, including at least six credits at the 300 level. 
  • FRN 251 FRN 252 , and FRN 253  must be taken in three separate semesters, each paired simultaneously and in conjunction with a course taught in English.  These courses will be selected by the student in consultation with the French language instructor.
