Business Administration, M.B.A.

Candidates for the MBA degree must complete 39 credit hours, consisting of MBA Foundation courses (9 credits), MBA Core courses (18 credits) and MBA Concentration courses (12 credits). In addition, up to 15 credit hours of MBA Fundamentals courses may need to be taken, depending on the studentʼs undergraduate coursework.

MBA Fundamentals courses may be waived if the student has completed similar undergraduate courses at York College or another accredited institution with a grade of “C” (2.0) or higher. To waive MBA 505 Survey of Statistics, the coursework must have been taken within three years from the date of application.

An MBA Fundamentals course may also be waived by placing in the 50th percentile or higher on a College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) examination or by challenging the course through credit by examination.

Up to 3 of the following required core credit hours may be waived depending upon a studentʼs undergraduate degree. A minimum of 36 credit hours is required to complete the MBA degree. Students may have to complete additional elective courses to reach the 36-credit minimum.

Concentration Elective Courses (12 credits)

Students must declare a Concentration and complete three of the listed courses within that Concentration, as well as MBA 598 Directed Study (in the area of concentration). Students may complete the requirements for more than one Concentration.

Students completing the Management concentration may complete no more than 2 of the following courses: MBA 577 , MBA 586 , and MBA 591 . Students completing MBA 577 , MBA 586 and MBA 591 will earn the Continuous Improvement concentration, not the Management concentration.

Marketing

Self-Designed Concentration

Students choose and complete any three courses that fit their personal, academic, and career goals from the other concentration electives. They also work with a graduate faculty member to develop an appropriate MBA Directed Study.
