Return to: Programs of Study
This program challenges educators, mental health practitioners, and other professionals in related fields to learn the root causes of the inequities experienced by many students in schools, identify community resources that might ameliorate some of these inequities, explore culturally and emotionally responsive approaches, and to positively engage with their schools and communities in ways that support students who have endured adverse childhood experiences. Graduates will be distinguished for the depth and sophistication in their knowledge of these issues and for the informed practice they apply in their work in our community. Candidates who hold valid Pennsylvania Educator Certificates at the conclusion of their programs are eligible to earn the PK-12 Social, Emotional, and Behavioral Wellness Endorsement.
Degree Candidates who elect the Diversity and Resilience Specialization or Effective Teaching Specialization must complete a capstone project during the semesters in which they enroll in the Education Innovation Practicum.
