Behavioral Sciences Minor

The minor in Behavioral Sciences offers students a comprehensive understanding of human behavior within social contexts. Integrating courses from sociology, psychology, and related disciplines, this program provides a multidisciplinary approach to the study of individual and group dynamics, social structures, and the forces that drive societal change. Students will explore how behavior is shaped by social influences, cultural norms, and diverse perspectives.

Requirements (18 credits)

PSY 100 General Psychology 3 credit hours
SOC 100 Introduction to Sociology 3 credit hours

Social Structure, Influence, and Change Elective

Students must complete 3 credits of the following:

ECO 205 Economic Perspectives 3 credit hours
HSV 240 Social Welfare Policy 3 credit hours
HSV 355 Program Design and Evaluation 3 credit hours
PSY 243 Social Psychology 3 credit hours

Diversity and Cultural Competence Elective

Students must complete 3 credits of the following:

SOC 220 American Social Problems 3 credit hours
SOC 225 Family Diversity and Society 3 credit hours
SOC 260 Gender and Society 3 credit hours
SOC 315 Race, Ethnicity, and Society 3 credit hours

Behavioral Science Electives

Students must complete 6 credits from the Behavioral Sciences major.
