Data Science Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Programs of Study

The five courses of the Data Sciences minor augment a technical degree in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering. They cultivate skill development in advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, mathematics and statistics. Formal application of these technical skills allows one to uncover insights hidden in an organization’s data to more soundly guide decision-making and strategic planning.

While 15 credits of coursework are required to fulfill this minor, some required courses may have prerequisites that effectively increase the total credits required to attain the minor to more than 15. However, some majors will have the option to choose as the statistics course, or the elective course, a course that is required by their major. This will eliminate extra prerequisites and reduce the credit requirement of the minor to fewer than 15 credits.
