Psychology Minor

Requirements for Major/Minor in Psychology:


  1. To complete a major in Psychology, a minimum of 24 credit hours, including PSY 370 , PSY 472 , PSY 490 , and 15 credits of Psychology courses at the 200 level or above must be completed at York College.
  2. A minor in Psychology requires 18 credit hours; a minimum of 12 credit hours must be completed at York College.
  3. 100-level or 200-level transfer courses in Psychology cannot be used to satisfy 300- or 400-level Psychology course requirements. These courses will be transferred as free electives.
  4. Child and Adolescent Development (PSY 221 ), Adult Development (PSY 222 ), Abnormal Psychology (PSY 230 ), Psychological Aspects of Aging (PSY 312 ), Early Childhood Development (PSY 223 ), and Young Adolescent Development (PSY 224 ) do not satisfy Psychology major requirements and will be given credit as free electives for students who take the courses before declaring the psychology major.
  5. 12 free elective credits must be outside the major area of Psychology.
  6. Psychology majors who have a Special Education minor should take PSY 365 Psychological Testing  instead of SPE 364 Educational Assessment of Students with Disabilities .
  7. No more than two courses in the major may have a grade of 1.0 or lower.

Note(s):


*Students may take PSY 221  or PSY 321  but may not take both courses for credit in the Psychology minor.

**Students may take PSY 230  or PSY 330  but may not take both courses for credit in the Psychology minor.

To complete a minor in Psychology, a minimum of 12 credit hours must be completed at York College of Pennsylvania.
