Requirements for Graduation
To be eligible for graduation, students majoring in Health Sciences must complete a minimum of 120 credits, achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher, satisfy the College’s residency requirements, and complete the General Education Requirements of the College. A minimum grade of 2.0 is required for First Year Seminar and all courses taken as part of Foundations. Courses used to complete General Education Requirements may not be taken on a pass/fail basis. The General Education Requirements of the college require students to successfully complete a First Year Seminar, Foundations (FCO 103 will be a required co-requisite with FCO 105 for students who have a high school GPA below 3.20), Disciplinary Perspectives, and a Constellation. Students who enter the college with 30 credit hours completed will not take a First Year Seminar course and therefore must take an additional 3 credits for graduation. Transfer students that are awarded 60 or more credits upon acceptance to York College will not be required to complete a Constellation. Health Sciences majors must achieve a grade of 2.0 or higher in all required courses in the major. While a 2.0 GPA satisfies the program graduation requirements, many health profession programs are competitive and may require a higher cumulative and science GPA. Students pursuing the Health Sciences degree should work diligently with their academic advisor to understand the overall cumulative and science GPA requirements for their intended health professions program of study.

Constellation Requirement
The Constellation requirement is met when a student completes four courses from a minimum of three disciplines within the Constellation requirements. Transfer students that are awarded 60 or more credits upon acceptance to York College will not be required to complete a Constellation except for Education majors.

Students must complete an additional 12 – 16 credits of required concentration courses. These are determined based on educational path and in consultation with their academic advisor. Students should choose one of the following concentrations:
Professional:
Pursuing this concentration will provide a gateway for students to a multitude of opportunities in graduate healthcare careers such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, etc.

Business:
Pursuing this concentration provides students with administrative, management, or marketing skills that are essential to career opportunities in healthcare such as medical sales, marketing, management, etc.

Social/Behavioral:
This concentration provides social behavioral skills to support career opportunities in healthcare in the community settings.

Elective Courses (15 credits)
The remaining courses to complete the degree may be chosen based on student interests. Students are encouraged either to elect a second minor or target a substantial portion of their free electives to an area of personal or professional interest.
