Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, M.S.N.

An Adult- Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (A-GNP) Primary Care is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who provides care in ambulatory and long-term care settings. While focusing on health promotion and disease prevention, A-GNPs acquire advanced skills in health assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute and chronic health problems. A-GNPs in primary care deliver comprehensive care to young, middle, and older adults in a variety of settings with an emphasis on outpatient care.

What services do NPs provide?

•Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests

• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions such as infections, injuries, mental health problems, hypertension, and diabetes

• Coordinate patients’ overall health care

• Teach/coach patients for healthier lifestyle manage

 

Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (A-GNP) Role - Concentration Courses


In addition to the Core requirements, students who select the adult-gerontology nurse practitioner role will complete Advanced Pharmacology and 17 credits of Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner courses:
