Creative Writing Minor

York College creative writing courses offer students a chance to develop their writing and imaginative skills under the direction of an actively publishing faculty and a series of visiting writers. The classroom of the creative writing workshop provides students with a learning-by-doing setting, in which students are put in control of their education and the direction of their creative development.

Requirements (18 credits):

CRW 272 Introduction to Creative Writing 3 credit hours
CRW 380 Literary Publishing 3 credit hours
3 credit hours from any LIT course

One course from the following:

CRW 372 Poetry Writing 3 credit hours
CRW 373 Creative Nonfiction 3 credit hours
CRW 382 Fiction Writing 3 credit hours

Two courses from the following:

CRW 275 Playwriting 3 credit hours
CRW 370 Special Topics in Creative Writing 3 credit hours
CRW 372 Poetry Writing 3 credit hours
CRW 373 Creative Nonfiction 3 credit hours
CRW 377 Screenwriting II 3 credit hours
CRW 382 Fiction Writing 3 credit hours
WRT 230 Publications Management I 3 credit hours
WRT 315 Advanced Composition 3 credit hours
WRT 320 Digital Writing: Theory and Practice 3 credit hours
WRT 321 Document Design: Theory and Practice 3 credit hours
