Engineering Management, B.S.


The Engineering Management program combines core courses in both engineering and management fields with advanced business courses to provide the graduate the ability to design, improve, and solve problems to create and deliver value to customers.

Engineering Management majors begin their studies in an engineering discipline, developing the fundamental analysis, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills traditionally associated with engineering. Engineering Management majors then take advanced business courses and apply those analysis, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills to integrate business processes with the human element of management, to improve these processes throughout the supply chain.

Requirements for Graduation:

To be eligible for graduation, students majoring in Engineering Management must complete a minimum of 128 credits of which 52 credits must be from non-business courses, achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.0, satisfy the College’s residency requirements, and complete the General Education Requirements of the College. A minimum grade of 2.0 is required for First Year Seminar and all courses taken as part of Foundations. Courses used to complete General Education Requirements may not be taken on a pass/fail basis.  Courses taken within the Physical Sciences Department are governed by policies set by that Department.  Students are encouraged to access the Student Handbook available on the Program of Study catalog page.  In general, courses may be taken only twice (including withdrawals) in an attempt to achieve the required 2.0 or higher in each course.  In addition, students majoring in Engineering Management must earn a grade of 2.0 or higher in every course in the Engineering Component and maintain a 2.0 average in the General Business Component and maintain a 2.0 average in the Engineering Management Component. Students must also earn a 2.0 or higher in their senior capstone course, BUS 495 .

The General Education Requirements of the college require students to successfully complete First Year Seminar, Foundations, Disciplinary Perspectives, and a Constellation. Students who enter the college with 30 credit hours completed will not take a First Year Seminar course and therefore must take an additional 3 credits for graduation. Transfer students that are awarded 60 or more credits upon acceptance to York College will not be required to complete a Constellation. Students who are waived from FYS must complete 3 credits of non-business coursework.

The Constellation requirement is met when a student completes four courses from a minimum of three disciplines within the Constellation requirements.  Transfer students that are awarded 60 or more credits upon acceptance to York College will not be required to complete a Constellation except for Education majors.
