The Philosophy and Business, B.A. is an innovative program highlighted by academic excellence and relevance to a world of careers that prepares students for today’s dynamic and competitive global environment. Combining the best aspects of a liberal arts degree with practical training in general business, this program prepares students for the twenty-first century work environment. The Philosophy and Business program includes courses in business administration that focus on concrete problem solving for today’s business climate and courses in philosophy that emphasize the critical and creative thinking necessary to succeed in today’s fast-paced business environment. Philosophy’s emphasis on critical thinking, interrogating assumptions, examining frameworks, and critiquing institutional commitments provides a strong foundation for success in all areas of business and entrepreneurship. The Graham School of Business’s General Business Component assures that graduates have the solid foundation in business practices to succeed in a variety of careers and fields.

Requirements for Graduation:

To be eligible for graduation, students majoring in Philosophy and Business must complete a minimum of 121 credits, achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.0, satisfy the College’s residency requirements, and complete the General Education Requirements of the College. A minimum grade of 2.0 is required for First Year Seminar and all courses taken as part of Foundations. Courses used to complete General Education Requirements may not be taken on a pass/fail basis.

Students majoring in Philosophy and Business must maintain a 2.0 average in the General Business Component courses and a 2.0 average in the Philosophy component courses. In addition, students must attain a 2.0 or higher in each course that serves as a prerequisite to a subsequent business course, (refer to the course description for specific prerequisites). Failure to attain a 2.0 in prerequisite courses may lengthen the time to graduation.
