German Studies Minor

The German Studies minor emphasizes the acquisition of skills in all aspects of the language - listening comprehension, reading, speaking, writing and cultural understanding.  Knowledge of German gives students a competitive edge when entering careers that seek applicants who are able to communicate in German, the language spoken in the country with the fourth largest economy of the world.  Students learn about cultural diversity and become more aware of their own world view and that of others in the United States and in the global community.

Requirements:


  • Fifteen course credits beyond the elementary level, taught in German, respectively, including at least six credits at the 300 level. 
  • GRM 251 GRM 252 , and GRM 253  must be taken in three separate semesters, each paired simultaneously and in conjunction with a course taught in English.  These courses will be selected by the student in consultation with the German language instructor.
