The Sport Management program at York College of Pennsylvania is unique because of its comprehensive and interdisciplinary design. The major adheres to curricular guidelines set forth by the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) for undergraduate sport management programs and is accredited through COSMA. Students experience a comprehensive sport management curriculum reflective of the breadth of the profession, and also have the opportunity to gain specialized expertise through elective sequences from other academic disciplines that will help prepare them for positions in the various segments of the sport management career field. These elective sequences include: Accounting, Applied Youth Development, Athletic Coaching, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality Marketing, Human Resource Management, Information Systems, International Business, Legal Studies, Management, Marketing, Not-For-Profit Management, Operations Management, Professional Writing, Public Relations, Retailing, Speech Communication, and Student-Initiated Sequence (students must have a 3.0 GPA).

A hallmark of the program is an emphasis on experiential learning. Students enter the major with a four-semester (freshman/sophomore), four-credit practicum experience, and end their major work with a nine-credit capstone work experience.

Therefore, the major develops, plans, and executes sport management courses that reflect the current trends and professional practices in the sport management field as well as provide practical experiences in professional settings that are consistent with students’ professional aspirations. Finally, the major is one of the top undergraduate sport management programs in the country due to our commitment to excellence in every aspect of the major and our students, who are prepared for lifelong learning opportunities, including the pursuit of a post-graduate degree.
