The Undeclared Business Program is part of Graham School of Business, the largest academic department on the York College campus in terms of number of students enrolled in our majors and faculty members. Yet despite our size of close to 900 students and nearly 70 professors, we take great pride in getting to know our students. With 12 undergraduate majors and a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree program, our mission is to provide distinctive, high caliber business education that encourages intellectual development through a dynamic, experiential business curriculum. Practice applying academic theory is our hallmark. Encouraging intellectual curiosity and developing the creative capacity for independent thought and action are two of our goals. You will earn a business degree that will provide the knowledge and skills to prepare you as a professional in your chosen field.
The Common Professional Component is the strong foundation on which our accredited business program is built. All business students, regardless of major, take a core group of classes that serve as the backbone of our curriculum. This core ensures that Business graduates receive exposure to economic institutions, the complex relationships that exist between business, government, and consumers, and a basic knowledge of the functional areas of business. Accounting, economics, ethics, finance, information systems, international business, management, marketing, operations, and statistics are at the heart of your program of study just as they integrate and interact in the world of business.
Requirements for Graduation:
To be eligible for graduation, students must declare a business major and complete the requirements as listed in the appropriate college catalog, achieve a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher, satisfy the College’s residency requirements, and complete the General Education Requirements of the College. A minimum grade of 2.0 is required for First Year Seminar and all courses taken as part of Foundations. Courses used to complete General Education Requirements may not be taken on a pass/fail basis.
The General Education Requirements of the college require students to successfully complete a First Year Seminar, Foundations, Disciplinary Perspectives, and a Constellation. Students who enter the college with 30 credit hours completed will not take a First Year Seminar course and therefore must take an additional 3 credits for graduation. Transfer students that are awarded 60 or more credits upon acceptance to York College will not be required to complete a Constellation except for Education majors.
Students who are waived from FYS must complete 3 credits of non-business coursework.
