The Middle Level program provides students with the knowledge, skills, experience and disposition to be an effective educator of students in grades 4-8. Middle Level majors will have the opportunity to specialize in one of four concentration areas: English/Language Arts, Math, Science, or Social Studies. The required professional preparation courses, in conjunction with valuable field experiences, will enable you to meet the many challenges faced by middle level teachers, including the ability to empower students with the requisite knowledge, skills, and attitudes to become lifelong learners. As well, the Department seeks to educate future teachers who are committed to their own lifelong learning. The Middle Level Education program prepares students for licensure in grades 4-8, in specified content areas.
Requirements for Graduation:
To be eligible for graduation, students majoring in Middle Level Education must complete all program requirements including a minimum of 120 credits, achieve the appropriate grade point average, and complete the General Education Requirements of the College. A minimum grade of 2.0 is required for First Year Seminar and all courses taken as part of Foundations. Courses used to complete General Education Requirements may not be taken on a pass/fail basis.
