The Hospitality, Recreation and Sport Management department programs you with the opportunity for both classroom and hands-on learning, preparing you for careers in fields that enrich the lives of others. These majors prepare you to become managers and practitioners in professions that provide positive recreation experiences in sport, travel, hotels, restaurants, therapeutic and community recreational activities, and many other related fields.

Vision Statement

To support the mission of York College of Pennsylvania and its Department of Hospitality, Recrecration and Sport Management by creating an environment which promotes the best models of positive, active, and healthful living through ours programs and services.

Mission Statement

As professional educators working in the areas of teaching, service, and advising, we will provide the knowledge and skills which will enable individuals of the York College of Pennsylvania community to achieve an integrated and active healthy lifestyle.  Physical well-being is a lifelong commitment which is enhanced by regular participation in physical activity.  It is the purpose of the Physical Education Division to contribute to this end by offering a variety of courses to help an individual meet this goal.

Exemption from Physical Education

Students with a permanent medical condition are required to take PE 234 Wellness, Fitness and Lifestyle Management . In order to receive an exemption from the three credit Physical Education requirement of the Department of Hospitality, Recreation and Sport Management, the student must submit a written note to the coordinator of each program from the physician stating that the student is not allowed to participate in any physical activity due to a permanent physical condition.
