Students who pursue a major in the Physical Sciences Department will gain the skills required to succeed in today’s highly technical and globally-connected world. The mission of the Physical Sciences Department is to prepare students for a career in a scientific and/or technical field by developing their problem-solving techniques in mathematics and science as well as their expertise and proficiency with front-line equipment and software. In keeping with the College mission to develop students’ professional skills, our major programs incorporate a variety of real-world projects, such as independent studies, guided research, and, with our partners in the professional community, internships. The scientific discipline and analytical skills you will develop in a Physical Sciences major will put you in position to excel in your career, whether it is in a scientific or technical field of government or industry, in healthcare, or in the pursuit of further study in graduate school.
