ME 456 Introduction to Aerodynamics

Fall

This course introduces the principles needed to predict lift, drag, and moment on flight vehicles. After a quick look at the field’s historical milestones, students develop tools from potential-flow theory, boundary-layer concepts, and compressible-flow relations to analyze airfoils, wings, and simple bodies across subsonic, transonic, and supersonic regimes. Prerequisite: EGR 360 Â with a grade of 2.0 or higher. Mechanical Engineering majors only.
