INT 351 Applied Language III

Fall/Spring

This course offers the opportunity to apply French, German, or Spanish to a subject area of interest that is outside of the French, German, or Spanish Studies program. Students will select and read texts in French, German, or Spanish pertaining to a course of their choice taught in English that they are taking concurrently with INT 351. Texts will be selected in consultation with the professor in both INT 351 and the relevant concurrent course, and will reflect the student’s degree of French, German, or Spanish proficiency. Using skills of linguistic and cultural analysis, students will enlarge their understanding of that concurrent course to include viewpoints beyond the English-language sources being used for that course. Students will create a text translation as a resource for the concurrent course, and will organize a roundtable discussion. Prerequisite: INT 251
