CM 313 Film Directing

Fall/Spring Alternate Years

In this course, students will gain a deeper understanding of the role of the film director by taking on the responsibilities of this position in a workshop setting. They will learn how to develop a creative vision for a story, articulate it to cast and crew, and bring it to the screen. Special emphasis will be placed on honing their ability to break down and visualize scenes, cast and work with actors, and communicate with key collaborators like the production designer, the cinematographer, and the editor. Prerequisite: CM 208
