CM 314 Cinematic Design

Fall/Spring Alternate Years

This is a course in the art of production design for narrative cinema. In it, students will learn about the role of the production designer in building the world of a movie. Over the course of the semester, they will demonstrate their ability to develop a visual design concept for a film and devise a practical plan for bringing it to the screen. A final group project will require students to implement their visual design concepts on a set through the selection of shooting locations, decor, props, and costumes.
