CM 341 Documentary Filmmaking

This advanced digital video production course concentrates on the art and practice of documentary storytelling. Students are required to critically research and effectively pitch a documentary story, and its production process, including storyline, treatment, budget, equipment, execution, and distribution. After concept approval, students will apply elements of video composition and pre-and postproduction techniques in shooting and editing a factual or reality-based documentary project. Students also engage in aesthetic criticism throughout the process. 3 hours practicum. Prerequisite: CM 242.
