MHA 512 Introduction to Healthcare in the United StatesSummer
This course introduces students to the history of the American healthcare system so they may begin to understand the ongoing complexity in the provision of healthcare. It continues to reference some of the main features of the Affordable Care Act whenever it is important to provide contextual discussions from historical and policy perspectives. It examines how technology has changed the organization of medical services. Students will have an opportunity to understand American anthro‐cultural values and their implications for healthcare delivery system. It examines how healthcare is delivered in different settings as well as its strengths and weaknesses. This course discusses national healthcare and personal healthcare expenditures and trends in private and public financing. Applicants without a health‐related bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience must take this three‐credit course to graduate. 3 credit hours
