While not all health care professionals conduct original research, it is necessary for anyone working in healthcare to be competent consumers of research. Likewise, while not all nurses, counsellors, or other professionals will write for publication in academic journals, it is helpful to practice and master professional writing to be informed critical consumers of research literature. At this final stage of master’s program, students have developed the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for ethical and competent professional practice. Learners are empowered to demonstrate competencies already obtained throughout their graduate program by developing a manuscript that integrates these competencies and demonstrates their ability to transfer knowledge and skills. All students are required to develop and submit a quality paper that meets the requirements for publication in a peer‐reviewed professional or biomedical journal. 3 credit hours
