NUR 428 Nursing Concepts and Practice: Psychiatric/Mental Health NursingFall/Spring
This course provides theoretical and clinical learning experiences in the provision of evidence-based healthcare to individuals and families experiencing mental health issues. The application of the nursing process to diverse populations occurs within inpatient and outpatient agencies providing acute and chronic care. Students focus on the acquisition of therapeutic communication skills, mental health assessment methods, and various therapeutic interventions. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the students work to enhance the care of patients across the lifespan. 2 lecture hours. Prerequisite: NUR 314 , NUR 358 , NUR 359 , NUR 360 , NUR 361 , and Senior Standing in the Nursing Major. Corequisite: NUR 429 , NUR 430 , and NUR 431 4 credit hours
