MPA 519 Leadership Development in the Public Sector

This course examines the study of management within the public sector. It covers key management competencies and theories, including New Public Management, New Public Service, the political context of public management, contracting out, networking, strategic management and planning, performance management, public participation, incentives and human motivation, team processes, and decision making. Students will also learn to practice continued self‐evaluation of their own leadership styles and practices and ultimately integrate leadership into their everyday lives. 3 credit hours
