NUR 450 Nursing PracticumFall/Spring
Nursing Practicum is a capstone course with a classroom and clinical component. This course is the culmination of the pre-licensure program in which students utilize all of their previous knowledge and skills to function in the role of the registered nurse (RN). Students transition into the nurse role by demonstrating clinical decision making, leadership, and professionalism. In addition, communication, collaboration, and management of patient care is a focus of the course. Students partner with an RN in a clinical specialty under nursing faculty guidance. Weekly class sessions are discussion-based, where students evaluate and analyze complex case studies, focusing on clinical judgment and management decisions. Class sessions are conducted using a small seminar format requiring intense individual student participation. Prerequisite: NUR 428 , NUR 430 , and senior standing in Nursing Major. Corequisite: NUR 448 , NUR 449 , and NUR 460
