LIT 100 Exploring Global Literature

“The universe is made of stories, not of atoms,” wrote poet Muriel Rukeyser. Across the globe people are reading, writing, and telling stories more than ever before in human history. These stories, poems, lyrics, and language shape our understanding of ourselves, society, and what is possible. This course introduces students to English studies, the practice of analyzing the authors, cultures, languages, and power of global literature past and present, giving students tools to understand and decode our shared world of stories, online, offline, and in the unwritten future.
