MED 587 Restorative PracticesFall, Spring, Summer
This course examines the fundamentals of restorative justice, including the philosophies behind the practice, how it works, and why it is important. We will also explore the various types of circles that can be used to facilitate restorative conversations, including proactive and responsive circles, and discuss the pros and cons of each type. Finally, we will examine the role of emotions in social interactions, especially shame, and how they affect our ability to create positive environments and relationships. By the end of this course, participants should understand the basic concepts of restorative justice, know how to plan and implement circles, and be able to identify the appropriate circle type for any situation. 3 credit hours
