MED 550 Legal and Ethical Issues in Education for Administrators

Fall, Spring, Summer

This course will guide the aspiring principal through the morass of legal and ethical issues that need to be considered in the day-to-day leadership of the school. Students will engage in an analysis, synthesis, and application of judicial interpretations of the various constitutions, statues, rules, and regulations relating to education. Those legal considerations affecting the rights of educators, students, and parents will be investigated. Through the active application of case law, and following the tenants of ethical leadership, students will acquire the skills necessary to promote the success of students while working within a framework of appropriate laws, policies, and regulations. 3 credit hours
