REC 320 Outdoor Therapeutic Recreation

Learn to lead outdoor experiences that promote therapeutic benefits and enhance wellness for participants. Students will learn course content and develop skills on designing experiences to fit participant conditions and needs, applying theory to activity design, learning and applying outdoor skills, finding and presenting evidence‐based practice to support best practices, and group discussion techniques for enhancing experience outcomes. This course blends concepts of therapeutic recreation practice with outdoor leadership techniques and principles. Course format includes classroom lecture/discussion with experiential components and field trips (typically during scheduled class time).
