ART 213 Animation I: 2D Fundamentals

This course is a structured introduction to the essentials of 2D animation. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of foundational concepts such as keyframes, tweening, and squash‐and‐stretch principles that give animation lifelike movement. The course integrates hands‐on training with industry‐standard digital tools and artificial intelligence, ensuring students are adept with contemporary animation software. Participants will also be guided through the creation of simple storyboards and character loops. Throughout the course, there is a persistent emphasis on achieving fluid motion and conveying authentic expression in animated sequences. By its conclusion, students will be well‐equipped with the fundamental skills required for further study in animation.  Prerequisite: ART 265
