ECE 334 Communication Networks and Applications

This course introduces students to foundational concepts and applications of analog and digital communication networks. Topics covered in the course include communication network architecture; protocols, flow control, and routing; local and wide area networks; voice and data communications; data security and integrity; performance evaluation from an information theory approach in terms of efficiency and accuracy; source and channel coding; compression and decompression technology. Students will also learn about current and future advancements in communication technology and gain hands‐on experience in analyzing how communication networks operate.  Prerequisite: 2.0 or higher in ECE 332 .
