PS 247 Government and Politics of Eastern Europe and Russia

A broad study of the governments and political systems of countries in Eastern Europe. Special emphasis will be given to a more detailed study of the role played by Russia in contemporary regional and global politics. As a foundation, the course will begin with a brief study of the former Soviet Union and the social, cultural, economic, and political foundations of the Cold War.
