GRD 319 Typography II

This specialized studio challenges students to examine complex typographic issues and typesetting and develop expressive ways to engage viewers through the use of typographic form. Discussing assigned viewings about historical and contemporary typographic topics and styles will help students understand the letterform’s role in communication and culture. With an emphasis on research, typographic form, and manual and digital drawing, students will experience typeface design and the implementation of their own proprietary typeface designs. 5 lecture and studio hours. Prerequisite: GRD 218. Graphic Design majors only.
