WRT 450 Experiential Learning in Writing
This course provides on-the-job experiences in the application of professional writing skills and knowledge. The student spends a minimum of 120 hours per semester in the performance of meaningful tasks required to produce effective professional documents. In addition, regular class and small-group meetings provide for integration of the student’s academic and agency work. The seminar provides an opportunity to explore job possibilities as well as making academic work more meaningful through application of theoretical principles of writing. Prerequisite: FCO 210 , FCO 215 , or FCO 225 ; WRT 315 . An application is required two months prior to intended on-site experience (including a statement of objectives and goals); students must be accepted by an approved site; approval of instructor; GPA of 2.5 or higher; and 60 credit hours completed before beginning on-site experience. Students may complete up to six credits of experiential learning.
