PHY 160 Engineering Physics: MechanicsFall and Spring Semesters
A calculus-based Physics course in mechanics for engineering and science majors. The use of vectors is emphasized throughout this course. Topics include vectors, linear and rotational motion, Newton’s Laws, friction, work and energy, conservation of linear and angular momentum, collisions, moment of inertia, simple harmonic motion, gravitation, and (if time permits) waves. 4 lecture hours. 3 laboratory hours. Prerequisite: MAT 171 .
