FYS 110 (EDU200) Education in Today’s SocietyFall and Spring Semesters
This course explores the foundations of education in today’s society. As a first year seminar, this course is designed for new college students considering or pursuing a career in the field of education. Students will analyze the key issues facing our education systems today through social, political and economic lenses. Students will apply research and inquiry methodology along with reflective practices to udnerstand and discuss the purposes and functions of schools and school systems, fiversity in educations, student achievement measures, and professionalism, among other topics. Students will also explore the many resources and opportunities available for students based on their iterests and needs in this and other school structures.
