MUS 299 Music and Culture Since 1900Fall and Spring Semesters
This course examines selected musicians and works that reflect many of the world’s most significant artistic and cultural developments since 1900. Special emphasis is placed on the relationship between music and society as reflected through sociopolitical conflicts, human diversity, technological advancements, and globalization. Several music genres are explored, encompassing both popular and art music, and there is a strong emphasis on class listening and discussion.
