HIS 207 Historic Preservation



This course is designed to provide students with a broad introduction to the field of historic architectural preservation, one of the main branches of Public History. Through the course, students will begin to develop skills necessary for understanding public and private issues related to historical preservation of buildings and sites, and assessing such places for their historical significance. Topics included in the course will be: laws governing historical preservation; public/private sector issues; assessing the historical importance of architectural resources; and standards of evaluation.
