Environmental Horticulture, B.S. Learning Outcomes


Program Educational Objectives

  • Students will be able to explain and apply the scientific method in coursework, projects and presentations.

  • Quantitative proficiency: students will demonstrate abilities to design experiments, collect, describe and analyze quantitative data, read and produce graphs, and carry out mathematical calculations necessary for horticultural applications.

  • Written, oral and visual communication: students will demonstrate clear and effective presentation and management of data.

  • Students will develop proficiency in disciplinary knowledge of horticulture, basic and applied, as practiced in diverse climates, plant systems and human cultures worldwide.

  • Students will demonstrate proficiency in Identification of plants, diseases, pests and beneficial species in horticulture, as well as sustainable production management practices.

  • Functioning as a professional: students will demonstrate practical work experience, teamwork, ethical behavior and horticultural judgment to make decisions and draw conclusions.
