Program Educational Objectives

• Students will describe the history, theory, and interdisciplinary nature of the field of human services and apply these concepts to helping individuals, families, and communities.
• Students will apply helping skills (i.e., being empathic, active listening) to promote positive change in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
• Students will analyze personal values and belief systems, recognize diversity in families and communities and apply skills related to cultural humility to their work with individuals, families, and communities.
• Students will demonstrate professionalism skills needed to gain entry-level employment and/or pursue graduate education.
• Students will effectively gather, analyze and interpret data in order to manage and critically examine projects and identify evidence-based practices.
