Therapeutic Recreation and Wellness Mission Statement
The mission of the Therapeutic Recreation and Wellness program is to provide relevant, high quality educational and experiential learning opportunities that prepare students to be competent and successful professionals in the fields of Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, and Wellness Management.
Program Educational Objectives
- Possess the technical, conceptual, and interpersonal skills required for entry-level professional careers in a variety of recreation, therapeutic recreation, and wellness occupations
- Be successful in utilizing their degree to obtain the appropriate certification for their emphasis area within the field
- Demonstrate leadership skills required for successful career advancement in recreation, therapeutic recreation, and wellness occupations
- Demonstrate the knowledge of recreation, therapeutic recreation, and wellness needed to successfully pursue graduate education in the field
Within the Therapeutic Recreation and Wellness program, two concentrations are available: (1) Therapeutic Recreation and (2) Wellness Management. Students must declare either a Therapeutic Recreation concentration or Wellness Management concentration to complete their degree.
